This lantern looks like the old lanterns from the 19th century. They used to work with gas and  1882 Sigmund Schuckert was setting the first electrical street lamp into operation.

This lantern from Wilhelm Schweizer is made out of pewter and is hand painted on both sides. It looks like the originals, but unfortunately does  not illuminate. But it looks very nice being decorated together with the pewter miniatures and you have the feeling that the lantern shines.
